DOGS!!!

I've was studying a while ago when i started getting bored and thought ill read my friends blog, when i stumbled upon Mahek's piece on N.G.O's especially P.E.T.A , that i was so appalled & disgusted that i felt compelled to air my views on dogs, the stupid people who abandon their dogs, & the so called animal-activists!!
I moved to borivali sum 3 odd years back. When i moved here the place was pretty well developed, but there was still acres and acres of land that had be reclaimed(i.e land that was going to be used for residential complexes or parks, we have a lot of those now ). Muffins my sweet little naughty dog, it being a new place and all wanted to go around everywhere, exploring every little nook and corner, and it is on one of these expeditions, that i have discovered one-to-many healthy dogs, abandoned by their owners. I ask you can you imagine being deserted by your own parents, can you imagine what these dogs felt? Some were all grown up , some were small puppies , all abandoned in the cold among the rubble , in an unknown place, left to die, suffer and die, a slow ,scared horrifying death. The first time i saw a German shepherd abandoned, i went home and tried to call people and ask for help, any kennels or anyone who was willing to take them in, i wish i could, but having one dog at home was driving my dad crazy, if i got another one home, I'd be out...I went to see the g-s a little later and what i saw was the most extra-ordinary thing ever, the construction laborers took the dog in fed it & bathed it.I visited it quite a few times after that, it grew-up into a big healthy dog, & that was so awesome. The laborers hardly had any money for themselves but they took the scared , lonely dog home, gave it food, water and much needed love and attention, where was the so called organizations, that are barking from every nook and corner for publicity , but when real work shows up, they disappear. This is the first in the series of many such incidents, and I'm happy to say that all the abandoned dogs were taken in by someone or the other. The place I'm living is quite a dog lover's paradise, the dog to human ratio is almost 1:2.
I think people can stoop to any level if they can abandon babies,(which has been very frequent in the last year, infant girls in Punjab especially), why would dogs be any different. Why do they bring animals home, and have babies if they cant take care of them? Why do grown-adults find it so difficult to take responsibility for themselves and their actions? Well I'd like to be optimistic this one time atleast and think there will be a better day, hopefully sometime in he near future.
I used to take MUFFINS to this vet, who used feed all the stray dogs in the vicinity which was quite a big number(around 50), and she had bought a house where she would keep many of the sick, lame or pregnant one's till they were better, she would perform free operations on them, she even started sterilizing the dogs , so that their number stayed in check. She spent a major part of her earnings on them, and dint shout from the roof-top that she was doing so-and-so for the animals. These are the true animal lovers, not the ones who create a storm by standing with boards outside food-joints claiming its wrong to eat meat.If they were really that bothered they would do something pro-active.Go stop the hunting and poaching where it's still legal, help preserve the ever dwindling number of wild-animals and their scarce environment.Say , the number of wild cats, in the national park in Bombay" the borivali national park" has gone down drastically.Stop people from enroaching on their lands, hence depriving them of food and a home, which eventually gets them to wander into human establishments, turn into man-eaters and they are eventually killed for the safety of the PEOPLE!! HA!! We don't need protection from them, they need to be protected from us!!

I've aired my views for now atleast and i shall retire back to my study table, which awaits my return. I may not put up anything till the 13th exams begin next week, wish me luck!!

LIGHT

There's light at the end of the tunnel,
That's what i've been led to believe,
Though many pitfalls i face,
I'm saved by his wonderful grace,
The obstacles are many,
And very often i trip,
But i realise i learn ,
to jump higher EACH TIME.

THE TWO WEEKS THAT WERE....

Well it all began when my cousin sister landed in india on the 30th, the following week my cousin brother landed & that was the begining of two whole weeks of fun, as i shall describe sometime down the line.I last saw them 8 months ago but i missed them so!!! We had so much fun, all the cousins with their spouses and respective children all under one roof, man it was crazy! The first week was spent shopping & talking ,catching up with each other's life, watching movies, gaming.. was awesome.I almost forgot to mention we went to this place for dinner which was called " SHIKARA" for the uninformed it's a Kashmir-style canoe if u may, a much bigger one, as u must have seen in all the Kashmir based movies. We actually dined on a shikara that was held up by stills, in a feet of water they had some fake rocks and the atmosphere was completed with ducks, which let me state i detested. The ducks sure did look all pretty but they were'nt in their natural environment which is'nt fair to the birds. They even had some ghazal singers there who lended to the environment, it was enchanting & the food was good.I wish those birds could be free though. After that time just flew by, well its true time flies by when your'e having fun.My sister boarded her plane the next week and was on her way back, to strange lands....We were all sad to see her go!!
We all went back to our respective houses, and got on with our lives gloomily for two days.Suddenly we had surprise visitors, more cousins came down(it's rainin cousins!!!!), so we all met up again.Did the usal cousin things, had loads of fun! One day as we were just sitting at home and talkin, watchin the rain unleash itself, we thought why not go for a really long drive? Why not drive down to LONAVLA?? I almost did cartwheels, the only reason its almost did & not did is i do not think i can do a cartwheel anymore!!! I've been wanting to drive down to LONAVLA for a really long time.Being the only child is not always favourable, as it isn't in this sitauation, as my parents were'nt letting me drown there earlier, atleast not alone. So this was a good opportunity for me to drive all the way down to LONAVLA, not alone offcourse there were peple in the car besides me, but i the only one who would drive all the way to-&-fro!!! I was ecstatic!! This was to be my first out of bombay trip with me & only me behind the wheel. Yipee!!!!
The plan was made & we were getting ready to leave in 2 hours time.We were startin our trip from New-Bombay & as i was'nt too familiar with the roads it was decided i'd tail my brother's car.We started amidst much fan-fare & pouring rain, lemme re-phrase that pelting rain. There have been a lot of seasonal changes in Bombay since last year , i guess one can say in the whole of India. It does'nt rain anymore, it pours!! It pours conitnously sometimes for hours sometime for days on end, there is recurrent thunder and lightening way more frequent, more powerfull from all the years before. The rain we recieved last year was the largest amount we have recieved in 100 years. That crazy rain pattern continued this year too, but was alittle more spread out, with short respites, though it did manage to bring Bombay to a stand-still, with quarter the amount of rainfall as last year, it wasn't all that bad.Well this year's rain is accompanied by it's friend strong ,billowing winds , up-rooting and breaking a record numbaer of trees this year. Sorry for the diversion, the inclusion of the weather report, but i just wanted to give an idea of the weather we were driving in.
So there i am tail-gating ma brother's car at 90-100 km/hr, which was not bad considering the zero visiblity - owing to the rain.Since the high-way is good(that's an understatement as we all know, the roads in bombay serve a dual purpose getting us to our destination in one piece hopefully, two is to give us the delight of the best joyrides, in the most famous amusement pak-"BOMBAY ROADS", this is applicable to all the roads except a some stretches of da east & west highway & the new & improved link road), i did not have any major problems inspite of da low visibility, i had to just keep drivin straight, varying my speed acording to the downpour, zooming away when the downpour ceased, and slowing down when it got crazy. It was an hour & a half's drive down to lonavla from there, & a beautiful drive it was!!! The pictures posted above do not do justice to the beauty, but as they say "A picture is worth more than a 1000 words", they do give you an idea of the green hills, the gushing waterfalls,& one of them gives u a faint idea of the fog there, there were times i could'nt see four feet in front of me, that's expected though when your driving to a hill-station in the rains especially.
Did not manage to get more pics cos everytime we got out of the car it started pouring, too bad , there were so many beautiful sights i wanted to capture in my lens & carry home.We did manage to get something else, something really important also when you drove down to LONAVLA , the fudge and the chikki( though i'm personally not a chikki person i love the fudge), our journey would have been incomplete without it.After the fudge/chikki craziness we decided it was time we got back home, cos there was more take a gues "SHOPPING" to do.
So we get back in the car & drive back home enjoying view and the fudge. It reminded me of my trip with my college-friends, kriss was driving(she is good!!), her family was kind enough to accomodate all of us in their house there. We screamed our lungs out everytime we passed through a tunnel, scaled hills, danced our asses off, gobled down awesome food her mom made, was loads of fun!!That was the first trip i made to LONAVLA.
So here we are cruising along the way in my car and we head to a mall in New-Bombay & an-route saw the picturesque waterfall you can also see in the third pic. i have to park the car at the end of the parking lot.We get inside and it's the usual rig-ma-role, was fun though, did i mention i love shopping!!The rest of the day was uneventful till it was time for us to head back. The bright me had left protective gear in the car, so i had to hold an umbrella and head out towards the car. I had just walked a few steps when i was getting blown away in the opposite direction by the wind & needless to say i got drenched completely.I somehow managed to get to the car after taking shelter behind a tata innova for a while, like that helped!! That was really really embaressing. The next day we headed back to good-old Bombay & chilled out at our place. Had another big get-together before parting ways cos my brother was heading to london. So had an almost lazy day, saw them off at night & then headed back to home sweet home.
That was how my two weeks were spent. I'm missing them already. Hope they come down soon!!

I'M FREE TO BLOG NOW!!!

It's great to be back!!! Awesome really!!! I do not know what compelled the government to block blogs( the reasons they've given make no sense to me), i think enough has been said about that already, though i'd like to add my bit, i'd rather not delve into all that rite now, & get all irritated all over again.I also do not know what or who compelled them to let us have our freedom of speech back & let us blog again, but to who-so-ever caused this im eternally grateful. Well it's good to be back as i already mentioned & hopefully this is'nt short-lived.
HAPPY BLOGGING!!!!!

HER TEDDY.

A little girl run away from home,
walking in a dark alley all alone,
clutching her teddy ,close to her heart,
with him she will never part.
So many questions left unanswered,
so many doubts that leave her bothered.
Running away from something ,
she knows not what,
the only thing she has with her,
is her past.

Of her past she remembers not much,
only memories of bruises, tortures & broken trust.
All that she feels now is pain,
pain so tremendous it tore her apart.
Will anything ever heal her broken heart?
This is what she asks herself every night,
as she slips into sweet slumber,
holding her teddy tight.

DISCLAIMER: Almost all the verses written here are dark or bordering on dark (influenced by rock, i like exploring the dark) , advance ahead at your own risk they are all written by me about a few years back, unless otherwise mentioned.

GUESS WHO'S BACK ,BACK AGAIN

I'm back and hopefully back for good. I realise i havent been posting anything for a really really long time. After several complaints (from friends) and a lot of thinking i have decided to return to bloggin.

When i opened my blog i realised i din't like the dull colours anymore *sigh* , i also knew it would take me a long time to change the template & repost the posts & the c-box, so i decided to make another blog, which in comparison would take less time. Which is not to say i wont be writing there but in all probability i wont, so i will delete it later when i cease to use it, totally (which is what i did incidentally a few months back...).

So with these words i welcome myself back to blogging, albeit a successful stint this time.
